Breed: Chocolate lab

Age: 5 years old

Good with dogs: yes

Good with cats: Unknown but Spike is very laid back so he would probably be fine. He is quite the bird dog though. So no pet birds.

Good with kids: yes

Weight: 55lbs

Name/Nicknames: Spike, Spikey, Spikers

My Story: I was found up in Falls, MN and brought to Red Lake Rosie's rescue. I had been living alone in a kennel with no food or water. My kennel mate did not make it to rescue poor little guy. I was starved and dehydrated but I am on my way to recovery now.

Hobbies: I love to track the little sparrows in my foster family's back yard. I even point them out!

Commands/Tricks: Even with my sketchy background I already knew sit and drop it.

Crate / Potty Trained: Yes on both, although I can be left with free roam of the house without issues. Of course, a Kong filled with treats helps me pass the time alone.

Activity Level: Low. I can go for long wals or just curl up on the couch. Whatever the family is doing I am all for it.

Fun things I do: Playing fetch is a great game for me. I even know 'drop it' .

Socialization/who I currently live with: I currently live with my foster mom, her college age son, and their resident springer. Mom owns Rescue Buddy Boarding so we have lots of different dogs coming and going. I get along with all of them.

Foster Notes: I am looking for an adoptive family that has time to spend with me as I am learning the ways of city life. Someone home part of the day would be great since I have already spent so much time alone. My back legs need some strengthening after the lack of nutrition. Walking and playing fetch are activities that I enjoy and will help my muscles develop.

Spike is attending Pet Haven's large/medium dog adoption events and his adoption fee is $300 (cash or check only), which includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration.

Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.
